"I think everyone has had someone in their life that takes up too much space in their mind"
Emerging Melbourne singer/songwriter and APRA scholarship winner Jasmin Bade captured the attention of Australian country radio stations in late 2021, with the release of ‘X’s & Y’s.’
‘X’s & Y’s’ was added to iHeartCountry, Triple M Country, Australian Country Radio and a heap of community stations while featuring in the KIX Country Hottest 20 for five consecutive weeks!
Jasmin Bade’s follow-up release, ‘Rent’ is a fun country take on a “problem” that just won't go away!
"I think everyone has had someone in their life that takes up too much space in their mind. I had this ex that I just couldn’t stop thinking about... he was just living in my head," says Jasmin.
“I literally flew back to Australia for a while to try and get him out of my mind,” she continues.
“But unfortunately, if someone’s playing house with your head, they’ll follow you wherever you go.”
"So I figured I’d better write a song about it!"
‘Rent’ was co-written with Emily Kroll (who co-wrote the recent chart topping song in the USA, ‘Just About Over You’ by emerging country sensation Priscilla Block) and Brian McKenna (son of the legendary Lori McKenna).
‘Rent’ was produced by Maks Gabriel who has recently worked with the likes of US country stars Cassadee Pope and Runaway June as well as having songs placed on shows such as Yellowstone, True Blood and CMT’s Nashville.
Raised in coastal city Melbourne, Australia, Jasmin Bade is an up-and-coming country artist bringing honesty and individuality to her sound. The singer-songwriter grew to love music that told stories, listening to the likes of Kasey Chambers (as a six year old), Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and The Chicks.
From busking on the streets for pocket change and playing in festivals since the age of seven, Bade pursued her passion and studied music at the University of Tasmania.
After studying, Jasmin Bade made the ultimate commitment to her musical dream by re-locating full-time to Music City, Nashville.
She has already performed at venues such as the Bluebird Café (where she also interned at for a while!) and The Listening Room.
Jasmin’s debut single, ‘I’m Fine’, was written by Bade with Spencer Jordan (Maroon Five) and produced by Steven Martinez (Lionel Richie, Pentatonix), landed her on the Nashville Songwriters Association“Ones To Watch” list, as well as receiving radio airplay and playlist additions across 50 countries.
American Songwriter described the lyrics of ‘X’s and Y’s’, as almost “Shane McAnally-esque”.
In support of this new single ‘Rent,’ Jasmin Bade has been back in Australia, playing a south-east coast acoustic tour.
‘Rent’ is available now on all streaming platforms globally.
