What has been your most favorite compliment about your music?
I had someone say that the songs on Modern Amusement's debut album sounded like the best of Weezer's Pinkerton b-sides. Weezer is basically the reason I do any of this and their Pinkerton b-sides are some of my favorite music ever created so that's the best compliment I've ever gotten!
Who do you make your music for?
I guess I could say I make music for anyone who wants to listen, but more specifically I make music for people who are like me! I've always been kind of an outcast in one way or another and I've always resonated with music from musicians who felt like they're outcasts as well. I hope to be able to make music that can resonate with others in the same way.
Talk to us about your latest track?
We released our latest song I Have A Crush On Lisa Loeb back in July! Since then it has become our most popular song, I've been very happy seeing people's responses to it and seeing more people get into our music through it!
Where were you emotionally in your life when you created it?
I was listening to a lot of Lisa Loeb at the time and I was thinking about how connected I could feel to her just by listening to her music despite never having actually met her. It's kind of cool how us songwriters can connect with people we'll never meet just by putting out our honest thoughts into our songs. So I tried doing that on this song! I'm very glad that people have connected with it in that way!
What studio experience could you relay to the artist early on in their career?
Well at this point I still do all my recording at home so I suppose I would say if you can't afford to go all-out on studio time but you have doubts that you can produce your own music at home, just go for it! Just get your music out however you can, time wasted doubting doesn't come back!
What is the next goal for you?
We're going to finish our second album and start rolling it out! I'm really excited for people to hear it!
When is your next single dropping? Can you tell us the name and what inspired it?
Our next single is due out November 30th! It's called Sour Patch Kid and it's a fast punk-rock number! It's inspired by artists like Weezer, Green Day, and Avril Lavigne so make sure to turn it up when you listen to it!
