Rihanna Is Back With Her New Song "Lift Me Up" (From Black Panther: Wakanda Forever)

Updated: Mar 28, 2023

After a two year hiatus from music, Rihanna is the new voice of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

Rihanna has been off-the-grid for a while now, focusing on newfound motherhood. However, director Ryan Coogler was a hopeful that the superstar would want to collaborate on the film’s soundtrack. After reaching out to Rihanna’s team multiple times and being met with a ‘no,’ he had to move forward without her.

It was the film’s teaser trailer that caught Rihanna’s attention. After seeing the trailer for the film, the new mother decided to break her sabbatical and be a part of the soundtrack. Working together to reimagine the lyrics, Rihanna and Coogler came up with the beautiful song that we hear in the film.

The iconic singer has emerged from her time away from music with a new sound that we love. It seems that motherhood has given her a new voice and perspective on the world and her career. Although a future album has not been announced, fans are optimistic that Rihanna will be releasing more new music soon.
