After more than thirty years on the road, country music star Alan Jackson has officially retired from touring. At sixty-seven years old, he played the final show of his farewell tour, “Last Call: One More for the Road,” on June 27th at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. This show brought an end to one of the most successful touring careers in country music.

Jackson stated that he wanted his final tour to end where it all started—the home of country music.

His final show sold out quickly, with about 55,000 tickets sold in just over five hours after they went on presale.

Alan Jackson had been performing while living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a nerve condition that affects balance, mobility, and muscle strength. He first shared his diagnosis in 2021. He said that although the condition is not life-threatening, it has made performing increasingly difficult. With that in mind, he wanted to give his fans a proper goodbye, and he definitely did so with this final show. One dollar from every ticket sold was donated to the CMT Research Foundation, which funds research to find a cure for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. A group of CMTRF (CMT Research Foundation) Donors and Board Members also matched this donation 2-to-1, tripling the total amount given to the organization.

Despite the weather's attempt to dampen the success of the show, the performance began after a 40-minute lightning delay. For the first two hours, more than a dozen country stars participated in the celebration by performing Alan Jackson covers. The all-star lineup included Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Lainey Wilson, Thomas Rhett, Cody Johnson, Riley Green, Little Big Town, Jon Pardi, Jake Owen, Lee Ann Womack, as well as three talented musicians from Jackson’s family: Adam Wright, Big City Brian Wright, and Carlisle Wright. Jackson followed the lineup, performing many of the biggest hits of his career.

For fans, Alan Jackson's retirement from touring marks the end of an era. He is an advocate for traditional songwriting in country music. He showed that being authentic can last. Even though he is not touring, his songs will continue to resonate with audiences for years to come.
