Don’t Wanna Be Exes with Drew Smith

Updated: Mar 28

You only call me when you’ve been drinking, or in the middle of the night. I’m gonna give in and I’m gonna pick up.”

This opening line to Drew Smith’s newest single “Exes” is engaging and relatable. In this release, Smith discusses his feelings on becoming exes and beautifully articulates the feeling you get when you still have feelings for someone you have to walk away from.

The yearning and longing for that person is described in “Exes” through memories and a willingness to be rejected just for the chance to talk to the other person. “I’m gonna text you for no good reason, just to watch you burn me down.

Smith summarizes his feelings with the line“When I think about meant to be, I think about you and me.
