After weeks of teasing fans with cryptic social media posts, a Nashville billboard, and a mysterious voicemail, Koe Wetzel has officially announced his new single, "Jaded," featuring Ella Langley. This marks the duo’s second collaboration, following the hit single, “That’s Why We Fight.”
Both artists' careers have reached new highs since they first recorded together. Their previous collaboration, “That’s Why We Fight,” earned a gold certification from the RIAA and amassed over 100 million streams on Spotify alone. Now, nearly three years later, the duo has announced a long-awaited second release.
Earlier this year, Langley’s sophomore album, Dandelion, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming her first chart-topping album. Its breakout single, "Choosin' Texas," also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single is now one of only seven songs to have held that position for sixteen weeks or more.
Wetzel recently released his sixth full-length studio album via Columbia Records. The record's success is driving immense ticket demand for The Night Champion World Tour, a massive 45-to-50-city arena and amphitheater trek across North America.
Their new single was co-written by both artists as well as Jordan Schmidt and ERNEST. According to Wetzel, "Jaded" centers on two people carrying the weight of heartbreak as they ask one another the question that drives the song: "How'd you get so jaded?" Wetzel described Langley as "one of my favorite people to write and sing with," while Langley reflected on how he was one of the first artists she ever collaborated and toured with early in her career.
“Jaded” sees Wetzel and Langley come together during a period where both artists have experienced some tremendous success in their respective careers. Their first collaboration demonstrated how effective their work together can be, and based on the initial information about “Jaded,” it seems that Wetzel and Langley are focusing on the same formula again. With both artists coming off career-defining successes, 'Jaded' has quickly become one of the most anticipated country releases of the summer.
